About the challenges

Wellbeing

We won't optimise a student's future financial wellbeing, if we don't teach financial life skills.

A good education does not make you a good musician. You need a good musical education to become a good musician. It is the same with sport, science, ... everything. To become good with financial matters, kids need exposure to regular financial education!

Sara

Love the fact that this course gives students opportunities for incidental learning and exposure through the student leadership program.

Flexibility

James

This course gives student leaders a purposeful task that has some real responsibility. It is not tokenistic. They also get to learn new skills. Good job.

Parents

Michelle

I want my kids too get exposed to financial learning as much as possible. Glad to see the school doing something in this space.

Community Use

Brendan

I am a youth worker and can use this as well in my setting. Like the simplicity. Like the novelty of some activities.

FAQ

  • Can parents use this course with their kids?

Of course. Parents may need to use it differently, more as an awareness raising piece. The advantage is that it gives a parent an excuse to have a financial conversation with their teenager.

  • My staff are not comfortable facilitating these types of courses. What is the solution?

We have designed these courses, so any responsible adult can facilitate. As our courses are not based on mathematical calculations, but rather discussion and conversation, we find that within the school can easily facilitate. We can also provide in-house training which is worthwhile if you take a long-term view.

  • Do we need to do all activities in the course?

No. You have complete flexibility to pick and choose which challenges you do, and how you may adapt them to your school circumstances.
