Who are the courses designed for?
The Wealth Academy primarily develops financial education for teenagers and young adults. Each course identifies its recommended learner group, recognising that age is only one consideration and that knowledge, experience and individual circumstances differ.
-
What is a self-directed course?
Self-directed courses allow learners to work through designated learning at their own pace. They provide a flexible environment in which learners can explore financial ideas, complete activities and reflect on their learning. Learners under 18 require permission from a parent or legal guardian to create an individual account, independently enrol in a course or use designated self-directed learning resources.
-
What is a facilitated course?
Facilitated courses are designed to be supported by a teacher, parent, tutor, mentor, boarding supervisor, youth worker, workplace educator or another appropriate facilitator. Facilitation can take place at school, at home, in a workplace, through a community or sporting organisation, or in another appropriate learning environment.
-
What will I find inside a course?
Course structures vary, but learning may include articles, audio, video, Financial Life Stories, scenarios, activities, different perspectives, reflection, knowledge checks and practical action planning. The emphasis is on active learning and decision-making rather than simply reading information and completing a quiz.
-
How long does a course take?
Learning time varies according to the course and the depth of engagement of the learner. Each course description provides an approximate learning time. Learners can work at their own pace where the course format allows.
-
Do learners need to provide personal financial information?
No. Learners are not required to disclose personal or family financial information as part of ordinary learning activities. Where an activity involves financial circumstances, learners may use hypothetical examples or private reflection where appropriate.
-
Are the courses financial advice?
No. The Wealth Academy provides financial education for general learning purposes. Course content does not constitute personal financial, investment, taxation, legal or other professional advice.
-
Why are there currently fewer courses available?
The Wealth Academy is undertaking a substantial renewal of its online course library. Existing educational content is being reviewed and redeveloped using contemporary learning design, multimedia and carefully considered applications of artificial intelligence. New and updated courses will be progressively released as this work is completed.
-
Can schools and organisations access the courses?
Yes. Courses and learning resources may be made available to schools, businesses, professional organisations, sporting organisations, charities, community organisations and other authorised organisations. Different access, licensing and tailored learning arrangements may be available. Visit Services to learn more.
